Installation and Update

This article provides basic information regarding WordPress installation as well as describes the installation/update process of the theme and its required plugins.

To skip directly to a specific section in the article, please use this index:

REQUIREMENTS AND COMPATIBILITY

The theme is fully compatible with WordPress 4.2. Before beginning the installation of your theme, you must first have WordPress already installed on a server.

Since most web hosts provide one-click WordPress installation, just follow their instructions.

If your web host does not provide such an option, we'd recommend you the following:

  1. Make sure they meet the following minimum server requirements.
  2. Review the WordPress detailed installation guide here.
  3. These basic guidelines can be helpful as well.

Browsers Compatibility

The theme is fully compatible with the following browsers:

  • IE9+
  • Firefox 34+
  • Safari 5.1+
  • Opera 26+
  • Chrome 39+

THEME INSTALLATION

To install the theme, you must first upload the theme files via one of the installation methods and then activate the theme itself.

We have provided a child theme in case you want to modify the theme while keeping it up to date. The child theme is included within the main .zip file downloaded from Themeforest.

You can read more about child themes here.

Note: the child theme does not work without the main theme. Therefore, you have to upload both themes.

WordPress Administration Panel Upload (recommended)

Step 1: Navigate to Appearance > Themes in your WordPress administration panel.

Step 2: Click the Add New button at the top of the page and go for the Upload option.

Step 3: Select the theme .zip file in the theme package downloaded from Themeforest and click Install Now.

FTP Upload (alternative)

Step 1: Connect to your website host using your FTP client (for example, FileZilla).

Step 2: Go to your default WordPress themes folder (/wp-content/themes/) and upload the non-zipped theme folder into that folder (/wp-content/themes/).

Final step for both methods: Navigate to Appearance > Themes in your WordPress administration panel and click Activate (the uploaded theme) once the upload has finished.

PLUGINS INSTALLATION

After the theme is activated, a notification at the top of the screen will suggest you to continue with the installation of the plugins recommended for getting the best out of your theme.

Step 1: Click Begin installing plugins and select the plugins you need to install from the list.

Step 2: You don’t need to activate the plugins after their installation since the theme does it automatically for you.

More about the theme's recommended plugins read here.

DEMO CONTENT INSTALLATION

The theme's demo content can be found in the theme main package you downloaded from Themeforest. It will be in a folder titled "demo content".

Step 1: In the WordPress administration area go to Plugins - Add new. Search for the "Customizer Export/Import" plugin, install and activate it.

Step 2: Go to Tools - Import, click on the "WordPress" link, install, activate the plugin, and upload the (unzipped) .xml file

Step 3: In the WordPress Customizer select the "Export/Import" tab, choose the (unzipped) .dat file, check "Download and import image files" and Press the "Import" button.

Step 4: Press the "Save & Publish" button.

Note: the .xml and .dat files you uploaded must be from the same folder.

Known issues

The "Customizer Export/Import" plugin does not apply all the imported settings. So, please, in the WordPress Customizer set up the following settings manually:

Static front page/posts page;

Primary navigation;

Get rid of unnecessary widgets in the footer area.
